Budapest South Gate
The Budapest South Gate Development, incorporating Student City, is an opportunity to create an exemplary city district which will transform Budapest into one of the most important mid-size cities in Europe. To achieve this objective, we propose an urban concept that integrates the Student City into a new Super-Campus that unites Budapest’s individual universities into a ‘Multiversity’.
The contemporary Knowledge Economy relies on the generation and sharing of ideas. Successful urban areas, such as Silicon Valley, create intense locales with concentrations of technology, expertise and business that are integrated into global networks. The provision of high-quality living environments - with good housing, education, green space and leisure opportunities – attracts talent and investment. The proximity of Budapest’s universities has the potential
The Super Campus model promotes the sharing of people, facilities, resources, knowledge and expertise between universities and the rest of the city. We believe that this ‘soft infrastructure’ requires a new physical infrastructure that supports this exchange. A Bike Super Highway, Electric Bus Loop and a superfast broadband network promotes movement within the Super Campus. Urban
development initiatives that encourage the clustering of high-tech business and research facilities, start-up incubators adjacent to the individual universities can further enhance the effect of the Super Campus.
Our proposals for the South Gate and Student City provide the impetus for the creation and success of the Super Campus. Its excellent transport links, walkable cityscape and diversity of high-quality green spaces, residences and amenities are inspired by the qualities of Budapest’s historic centre. Our goal is to create an attractive living environment for all of Budapest’s residents.for the creation of an
Economic Hub driven by innovation and invention.
