COLDINGHAM SHIELING

The Shieling proposes eight new apartments within two villa structures on the site of an old nursing home.

The steeply sloping site and separation of the two villas has allowed each of the apartments their own private entrances and terraces or gardens and each with views out across the bay. This terracing of the forms breaks down the buildings mass and skyline whilst relating to the scale of the surrounding properties.

Whitewash render refers to the Edwardian seaside villas, whilst the simple horizontal facades emulates the lines of modernist lidos such as Tarlair Lido in Banffshire.
