A private holiday home in the Highland coastal hamlet of Port Appin is located on a site nestled above the rest of the village. Buried inside the tree line yet with commanding views out across the bay provides a range of interesting aspects which the design takes advantage of.

The main functions - master bedroom, guest bedrooms, living space - are organised in separate timber volumes, which are arranged to gain privacy from one another, better vistas and weave around the existing trees on the site. The joins between these volumes are glazed, which provides a condensed glimpse out to the forest of birch and bracken.
