This project is the winning RIBA competition scheme for a new village hub for Sessay and the surrounding communities of Little Hutton, Hutton Sessay and Little Sessay. The proposals include a new village hall, cafe, bar and lounge space, meeting rooms and the changing facilities for the local bowls and cricket clubs all contained under one roof.

 

We have been working with the client alongside Sessay Village Hall and Playing Fields Association and within the local community to develop proposals that suit the needs of the various user groups and respects the local built heritage.

 

One aspect of the proposals which has been crucial to the funding is the outline planning permission granted for enabling development. These 5 mixed tenure houses will provide some much needed new housing to the village and provide a significant proportion of the budget towards the building, whilst keeping control of the new developments within the community.

 

The next stage, once the next funding benchmark has been reached, is to develop detailed design in preparation for inviting tendering contractors.
